Fin Capital March Updates
Our monthly roundup of resources from the team, portfolio news, and more.
Welcome to the March installment of Fin Capital's newsletter. It’s been a busy month for the team and our portfolio companies.

Read below for a snapshot of our thoughts on current market conditions, emerging trends, key industry insights, and more
Setting Sail in Japan: We announced the planned opening of our Tokyo office as our Asia headquarters on March 4th! We see incredible opportunities to support our portfolio companies in engaging with end-customers (banks, asset/wealth managers, insurers, and corporates) and evaluate investments in the growing number of seasoned entrepreneurs in Japan. It appears that Warren Buffett is similarly bullish! Berkshire Hathaway recently announced it is increasing its stakes in Japan’s five biggest trading houses and “wants to own them forever.” The firms are deeply entrenched in global supply chains, managing capital for essential industries like raw materials and logistics, offering stability and growth potential. Despite the Nikkei recently seeing some weakness, we believe this investment from Berkshire, who has predominately only invested in US companies, is a strong indicator for Japanese public markets and we are seeing similar opportunities in privates.
Big Tech M&A: The Wiz/Google deal made headlines this week, as it will be Google’s largest acquisition to date. The partnership will expand Google Cloud’s reach to Wiz's existing customers and enhance its security competitiveness against rivals like AWS and Microsoft Azure. Wiz’s growth has skyrocketed in the 5 years since inception, scaling to ~$1B in ARR. This deal represents strong optimism that President Trump's antitrust enforcers may be more open to M&A in cases where it provides the US a leadership position. While we’ll have to wait and see if this deal gets approved, we are excited to see the pick-up in M&A activity despite the recent volatility in public markets.
Stablecoin Tailwinds: The U.S. Senate Banking Committee recently cleared a bill, the GENIUS Act, to regulate stablecoin issuers. With that first committee approval, stablecoin oversight is a significant step closer to law in the U.S. The bill seeks to clarify who can issue a stablecoin and what the requirements are, including: reserves, disclosures, and redemption procedures. The biggest game changer will be enabling banks to move money (we are coming for you SWIFT!) and settle in stablecoins – the speed, cost, and access will improve dramatically. In other stablecoin news, USDC has become the first and only global dollar stablecoin to become approved for use in Japan. This milestone strengthens Japan’s position in the regulated crypto market and paves the way for broader stablecoin adoption in traditional finance.
